Bad Bunny’s bold step through the Met Gala 2026: the message behind his look with a cane and gray hair

This is how Bad Bunny walked on the Met Gala 2026 carpet with an extravagant look

Bad Bunny surprised everyone on the red carpet Met Gala 2026 by presenting itself as a “aged” version of himself, taking his creativity and audacity to a new level.

The Puerto Rican singer chose a radical transformation for one of the most anticipated events on the international calendar of the fashion and art.

On the night of May 4, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York It once again became the world epicenter of creativity. Under the motto “Fashion Is Art” (“Fashion is Art”), the gala brought together prominent figures from music, film, design and sports.

It was the appearance of Bad Bunny, with hyper-realistic prosthetics that simulated wrinkles, sagging and sun spots, which captured all the attention and comments.

The choice of Bad Bunny not only sought visual impact, but also directly dialogued with the central theme of this year’s Costume Institute exhibition: the different types of bodies and, in particular, the aging body.

The exhibition’s own catalog notes: “Perhaps reflecting our fear of facing our own mortality, the youth-focused fashion industry has traditionally ignored the aging body.” With his appearance, the artist brought to the table a necessary conversation about the representation of old age in the world of fashion.

In an interview during the gala, he expressed: “It’s part of my life, I always try to do something different. And this day at the Met is a perfect day to explore and be creative and express who you are in a different way. So that’s what I’m doing tonight and I’m glad to be here with you, and we, all of us who are here. Exactly 53 years older than me. So it took a little time, but it was worth it. I hope it looks good.”

This fragment summarizes the spirit with which he decided to challenge industry conventions, turning his presence into a visual manifesto about the passage of time and authenticity.

To achieve this effect, Bad Bunny turned to the talent of the makeup artist Mike Marinorecognized for his work on extreme characterizations and iconic costumes, such as Heidi Klum’s on Halloween.

Marino hand-sculpted every wrinkle, sun spot and sign of aging after chatting with Bad Bunny about how the passing of years could transform his face, neck and hands.

The result was a prosthesis so realistic that many assistants and photographers were slow to recognize the Puerto Rican artist under the characterization.

The look was completed with a custom made black tuxedodesigned by Bad Bunny himself in collaboration with Zara. The oversized bow at her neck is a direct nod to the famous dress “Bustle” of Charles Jamescreated in 1947 and part of the Costume Institute’s permanent collection.

The artist complemented his outfit with a watch and a walking stick. Audemars Piguetreinforcing the aesthetics of an older, elegant and self-confident gentleman.

It is not the first time that Bad Bunny surprises at the Met Gala. In previous editions, she stood out for showing off luminous skin, voluminous hairstyles with accessories and meticulous details in each presentation.

For the 2025 Met Gala he wore a classic-cut dark brown suit with wide lapels, accompanied by a light brown shirt and yellow tie. She completed the look with a brown woven frame hat, round sunglasses and gloves decorated with gold rhinestones. The large two-tone leather bag in brown and yellow stood out.

However, this year, the artist took his aesthetic bet further, establishing himself as one of the most original and talked-about guests of the night.
