Argentine exports: link and continuity

Argentine exports: link and continuity

Since its inception, the Government of Javier Milei has been concerned about improving the export capacity of Argentine companies. Economic growth and social improvement Argentina It depends largely on the possibilities of trading with other countries in the world. Geopolitically and economically we cannot be locked within our borders.

With that mandate, PromArgentina (the Argentine Agency for the Promotion of Investments and International Trade) works precisely on the promotion and relationship of private actors involved in the Argentine export process. Activating meetings, achieving more knowledge of what our country produces and offers, implies maintaining a positive balance in the trade balance. as a basis for productive development, job creation and the arrival of investments.

Recent data show a structural recovery of Argentine foreign trade. In 2025, exports reached USD 87,111 million, with a year-on-year growth of 9.3%, driven mainly by the increase in export volume. By 2026, private and official projections estimate that the country could approach a new historical record, with exports close to USD 100 billion.

In parallel, Argentina accumulates 29 consecutive months of trade surplus, a figure that reflects not only a cyclical improvement, but also an expansion of strategic sectors with the capacity for international insertion.

In this scenario, PromArgentina It has a double articulation role: between private parties that offer and demand goods in international markets, and between the public and private sectors to expand markets, promote investments and strengthen Argentina’s presence in the world. The work is supported by a federal trade promotion strategy that includes international business rounds, participation in sector fairs, trade missions and direct links between Argentine companies and international buyers.

During 2025, the Agency organized and accompanied business rounds in strategic sectors such as food and beverages, mining, oil and gas, cultural industries, technology and industrial manufacturing. Only in the international food and beverage round held in The Rural More than 100 Argentine companies from 14 provinces participated and 537 business meetings were held with international buyers.

The strategy also aims to diversify the export matrix and expand regional participation. Export growth is no longer concentrated exclusively in the central area of the country. According to the latest official reports, regions such as the NEA, the Patagonia and the NOA registered strong increases in their external turnover, driven by sectors such as agribusiness, energy, mining and the knowledge economy.

One of the main drivers continues to be agribusiness, with a significant recovery in cereal and oilseed exports to Asian markets. Added to this is the growth of the energy sector linked to Dead Cow and the expansion of lithium and copper mining in northern Argentina.

For us, the opening and consolidation of strategic markets is key. In recent months, commercial rounds were organized in USA for the Argentine meat sector, achieving sales of more than 8,800 tons in meetings held in Philadelphia, Chicago and Los Angeles. Likewise, we promoted the Argentine presence at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) of Houstonone of the main energy summits in the world, where more than 27 Argentine companies participated along with YPF for the first time within the Argentine institutional space.

Another recent milestone was the launch of Argentina Feeds 2026the first international food fair that the country will have, promoted by PromArgentina along with The Rural, Fira Barcelona International and COPALdesigned to strengthen the global positioning of Argentine foods and beverages and generate new opportunities for investment, innovation and international trade.

The results are beginning to be reflected in the numbers. In April 2026, Argentine exports reached a monthly historical high, driven by a 20.6% increase in exported quantities and a 10.8% increase in prices. In the first four months of the year, foreign sales accumulated USD 30,820 million and the trade balance registered a surplus of USD 8,277 million.

The challenge going forward will be to sustain this process, expand international competitiveness and consolidate a Argentina capable of exporting more added value, more innovation and more federal production to the world.
