Argentina will put up for sale its entire 51% stake in the High Voltage Electric Energy Transportation Company Transener in the coming days, the Government said on Friday.
Transeneris the leading company in the public electric energy transportation service in extra high voltage in the southern country.
“In the coming days the sale of the state’s participation in the Transener company will be decided,” said the Secretary of Energy and Mining Coordination, Daniel González, at an event to celebrate Oil Day in Buenos Aires.
The government of libertarian President Javier Milei is promoting a drastic plan to reduce the role of the State as Argentina fights its worst economic crisis in decades, with three-digit inflation.
“This announcement is aligned with the National Government’s policy of advancing a model where the State stops fulfilling the roles of businessman, promoting private participation in strategic sectors,” said the Secretary of Energy in a statement.
As an operator of the national network, Transener is made up of almost 12,400 kilometers of transmission lines, adding the 6,228 kilometers of lines that make up the network of its controlled, the Electric Energy Transportation Company for Trunk Distribution of the Province of Buenos Aires (Tansba).
