An anonymous call and two men in the van: new clues in the search for retirees in Chubut

The disappearance of Pedro Alberto Kreder (79) and Juana Inés Morales (69)the retirees who have been intensively searched in the province of Chubut for 12 days, remains a mystery. However, in the last few hours a series of clues emerged that investigators are trying to confirm to advance the search.

One of them is the appearance of recent footprints on a path in the area where they are looking for the couple. As a result of this, new searches are expected in the surrounding area.

From this progress, The operation will continue this Thursday with tracking grids in the Pampa Salamanca area and surrounding areaswhere the teams remain attentive to the appearance of new footprints, remains of campfires, signs of passage, possible camera records or testimonies that allow reconstructing the route of the truck and the couple.

For now, the only concrete element that investigators have is the discovery of the van in which the couple was traveling in an area that is difficult to access. It is a Beige Toyota Hiluxwith a dome, property of Kreder, found several days ago.

The vehicle was closed and with some of the retirees’ belongings. Investigators did not find their cell phones.

Furthermore, the prosecutor of the case, Fabiola Lopezinvestigate another clue, at least, disturbing. This is an anonymous call, in which They stated that the couple had been the victim of an attempted robbery in the Rocas Coloradas area..

This was said by the Minister of Security and Justice of the province, Héctor Iturrioz, the information was provided by a person who also He suffered an attempted robbery in that place, but managed to escape.

This anonymous communication would mean that Pedro would not have driven the truck to the area where the vehicle was found. Therefore, the search area will be expanded with a large operation of police, firefighters, prefects and volunteers.

Iturrioz revealed that two hypotheses are being used: “That of accidental loss and that of homicide”. He also referred to the possibility that they may have fallen into a sinkhole.

“It is a swampy terrain. Once one breaks through a first layer, it gets buried easily, but not to the point of disappearing.. In any case, we are trying to get drones that can measure up to 10 meters deep,” said the minister during a press conference in which he presented police equipment.

“Today -on Wednesday- we found a puma and we obviously had to shoot it to scare it away, but we also found guanacos killed by the pumas on a daily basis. It’s a really complicated area.”he added.

“I know They searched about 40 kilometers around and there are no traces or any evidence that they have traveled or had any accident,” said the official, who added that this Thursday the search location will change, “already varying the working hypothesis, starting from Rocas Coloradas towards the north,” he noted.

The possibility of theft is in line with another post that also emerged in the last few hours. According to Chubut media, a person approached the Kilometer 8 Police Station to say that he had seen a truck similar to Pedro’s. but it was driven by two men.

According to the story, the individuals seemed “lost” and the truck in which they were driving matched the vehicle found on Friday in Cañadón Visser, in Rocas Coloradas, the local newspaper Crónica published.

With these sayings, researchers will try to observe security cameras from the Caleta Cordova and Km 8 area, to rule out or confirm this version.

Regarding the search, it was confirmed that the Army adds a helicopter to try to find Juana and Pedro. Major Colonel Claudio Cervigni (commander of the IX Mechanized Brigade) announced that the aircraft would be available this Friday.
