After fires in Valparaíso, insurers report 575 complaints in their first balance sheet

Financial Diary – Santiago

Two weeks after the fire that affected more than 9,000 hectares in the Valparaíso Region, the Association of Insurance Companies of Chile (AACh) delivered this Friday its first report on the number of claims reported to the companies. So far this month, a total of 575 accidents collected until Thursday, February 15, were reported in Region V.

“57% correspond to the commune of Viña del Mar, 26% to the commune of Valparaíso and 13% are complaints from the commune of Quilpué. The remaining 4% corresponds to other areas of the region,” the union reported in a statement.

They added that “in this first balance, half of the claims reported to the companies correspond to the fire clause, while 36% are due to physical damage to vehicles.”

Given the magnitude of the fires, insurance companies extended the deadline to report incidents. We have “redoubled its capabilities to meet all the requirements of those affected, both remotely and in person at the offices of each company, in order to expedite the claim processes and support people,” they expressed from the Association.
