A walk through the Grupo Cántico public library

The Grupo Cántico public library It will open its doors this Thursday to all the public. Located in the center of Cordovavery close to the stations, the space adapts to the terrain and uses light as its great element. The archaeological remains found during the construction of the building have been integrated into the space and are part of the libraryleaving a very modern space with historical touches that accredit the city in which they are located.

The library has four floors. There are two entrances to the building, one through the ground floor and another through what could be considered the basement. The ground floor is the one with general access, which faces América Avenue.. The basement, which is called “P floor”, is on the side of the Agriculture gardens and there is another entrance there.

In that basement or “P floor” is the children’s areawhich has, in addition to funds adapted to the little ones, spaces to sit and a amphitheater. As for the ground floor, access is from Avenida de América. As soon as you enter, to the left is the reception, while to the right is a hallway with lockers, as well as the Carmen Guerra assembly hall and the Ramírez de las Casas Deza study room. In this part there are loan machines, a large space facing Cervantes with newspapers and magazines and also several tables with computers.

The first floor is the one that displays most of the library’s collections.. Part of the funds, which are mostly located on the first floor.

Second floor, the most Cordoba

The top floor, the second, has a long bar with tables for studying, all facing the Agriculture gardens (actually, the entire library faces the Ducks, except the ground floor). Also on this last floor There are all the books that have to do with Córdoba or its writers, the so-called “local collection”there is also a training classroom, meeting rooms and the Pablo García Baena researchers room.
