A German football figure had to leave Bayern Munich after being accused of being a misogynist: “There is no place for villains”

The pressure exerted by the fans of the Bayern Munich led to Jerome Boateng to abandon his training process as a coach at the German club, a decision that the former defender justified by stating that he did not want to “harm the club,” as reported on his official Instagram account. The reaction of the followers came after the reappearance of accusations of misogyny and two complaints of gender violence involving the former world champion with Germany in Brazil 2014.

Boateng, who was part of the cast of Munich for a decade and also played on teams like Manchester City, Lyon and Salernitanahad been invited by the Bavarian institution to start his career as a coach, collaborating as an assistant Vincent Kompanycurrent technical director of the club.

However, the initiative generated immediate rejection among fans, who demanded that the leadership establish clear limits against misogynistic violence. During a match in Allianz Arenabanners were displayed with messages such as “There is no place for villains in our club, no more room for Boateng”reflecting the discontent of the fans.

The controversy surrounding Boateng has its origins in two complaints of gender violence filed by ex-partners. Sherin Senler accused him of physically attacking her during a trip to the Caribbean in 2018, alleging that she was hit and bitten on the face. For this fact, in 2021, Boateng was found guilty and sentenced to pay a fine of 1.8 million euros. After appealing the sentence, the sentence was ratified in 2022, although the financial penalty was reduced to 1.2 million euros. Later, in 2024, a new trial concluded with a verdict of “guilty of intentional simple bodily harm”establishing a final fine of 200,000 euros.

The case of Kasia LenhardtBoateng’s other ex-partner, gained notoriety after her death in February 2021. The 25-year-old model was found dead in her Berlin apartment, a week after publicly announcing her separation from the footballer. During that period, Lenhardt declared that he had been a victim of “bad treatment”while Boateng maintained that she had threatened him with a “false complaint of violence” with the purpose of damaging his professional career.

The investigation into possible injuries suffered by Lenhardt was reopened, but the Munich prosecutor’s office closed the case in March 2025 after not finding sufficient evidence to bring charges against Boateng. During the time between the breakup and his death, Lenhardt also stated that the relationship ended due to “constant infidelities and lies” of the player.

The professional career of Boateng began in 2007 with his debut in the Bundesliga wearing the shirt Hertha Berlin. However, his most successful stage took place during the ten years he remained in the Bayernwhere he accumulated an outstanding record: two Champions Leagues, nine Bundesligas and five German Cups. His relationship with the Bavarian club ended in 2021, after a decade of collective and individual achievements.

Subsequently, the German defender continued his career in the Olympique Lyonnais and in the Salernitana from Italy, before landing in the Linzer ASK from Austria. With this last team, Boateng terminated his contract, which was valid until August 2026, after having only disputed 14 matches.

At the international level, Boateng defended the German national team shirt in 76 occasions between 2009 and 2018. In addition to the world title in 2014, the defender was also part of the team that became champion in the U21 Euro Cup 2009.
