Peru’s economy grew 4.52% year -on -year in June, due above all to a better performance of the manufacturing, agricultural and construction sectorsthe Local Statistics Institute, INEI, reported Friday. The advance of the economy of the third copper producer was higher than the expansion of 2.65% in May.
The National Statistics Institute, INEI, said in a statement that between January and June the Peruvian economy grew 3.33%, while in the last 12 months until June the South American country advanced 3.75%. The INEI explained that among the main sectors that increased most at the year -on -year level in June is manufacturing with 7.26%, construction with 9.57%and agricultural with 8.76%.
Meanwhile, the key sector of mining and hydrocarbons recorded in the month a growth of 1.01% year -on -year, a recovery after losing 6.92% in May. The June advance was associated with a recovery in the production of copper, zinc and gold, the INEI said.
The Ministry of Economy adjusted its growth estimated for this year between 3% and 3.5%, compared to the projection of 3.5% -4% previous. In 2024, the Andean country grew 3.3% after a recession the previous year.
