McDonald’s remains the most valuable restaurant chain in the world with a market capitalization of US$195.1 billion, a figure that far exceeds that of its closest competitors. According to data from CompaniesMarketCapthe company is worth more than four times what the second and third companies in the ranking register: Chipotle Mexican Grill (US$45.2 billion) and Yum! Brands (US$45.1 billion).
The United States largely dominates the ranking of the largest companies in restaurants listed on the stock exchange. Of the 20 companies included in the list, 10 are of American origin, including Darden Restaurants, Texas Roadhouse, Domino’s Pizza, Cava Group, Brinker International, Wingstop, The Cheesecake Factory and Shake Shack.
Fourth place is occupied by the Canadian Restaurant Brands Internationalmatrix of brands like Burger King, Tim Hortons, Popeyes and Firehouse Subswith a valuation of US$34.3 billion. It follows Darden Restaurantsowner of chains such as Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhousewith US$23.4 billion.
Asia also has a relevant presence in the scale. China appears with Yum China (US$14.8 billion) and Hai Di Lao Hot Pot (US$7.6 billion), while Japan contributes four companies: Zensho Holdings (US$8.5 billion), Food & Life Companies (US$6.8 billion), McDonald’s Japan (US$6.3 billion) and Skylark Holdings (US$4.1 billion).
