Facundo Díaz Acosta once again confirmed his great moment with his third title of the year in the ATP Challenger Tour: was crowned in the Challenger 75 from Francavilla al Marein Italyby defeating the Brazilian in the final Gustavo Heide by 5-7, 6-1 and 6-2in a battle of more than two and a half hours.
The Buenos Aires left-hander, who had already celebrated this year in Tiger II and in San Leopoldo, Brazilcontinues to recover ground and will return to the Top 150. It will rise 30 locations to settle at 149th in the world ranking.
The final started uphill. Heide, recent champion in Campinas and one of the most dangerous South American players on the circuit in this category, won a closely contested first set 7-5.
Far from falling apart, Díaz Acosta quickly adjusted his game, found greater depth with his drive and began to dominate the bulk of the exchanges. The second set showed a much more aggressive and precise version of the Argentine, who completely dismantled the Brazilian and took the set by a resounding 6-1.
Already in the third, with confidence on the rise and an opponent beaten physically and emotionally, the left-hander maintained control, sealed the victory and crowned another brilliant week.
The path to the title also had specific weight. Díaz Acosta arrived as seventh seed and, after a complex debut against the Swiss Henry Bernetchained victories against the Spanish Nikolas Sánchez Izquierdothe Taiwanese Chun-Hsin Tsengthe American Ryan Seggerman and finally Heide.
This new trophy brings his total of Challenger titles to eight and reaffirms a career that has an unforgettable peak: the Argentina Open 2024when Díaz Acosta surprised the circuit by winning the trophy at the ATP 250. Since then, injuries and ups and downs marked part of his journey, but in 2026 the Buenos Aires tennis player seems to have found an upward line again.
Furthermore, this stage has a special seasoning: Díaz Acosta currently works under the orbit of Federico Delbonishero of the Argentine champion team Davis Cup in 2016. The company begins to offer concrete signs of growth.
In addition to its third celebration of the year, the conquest in Francavilla meant the 452nd title for Argentine tennis on the Challenger Tour and the ninth so far this season.
