The Colombian Aerospace Force (FAC) opened a national call aimed at men and women graduates who wish to train as non-commissioned officers, without the need for a professional degree or prior experience. The opportunity is designed for young people born between October 1, 2002 and November 1, 2010, who will be able to begin their military career at the “Capitán Andrés M. Díaz” Non-Commissioned Officer School in Madrid (Cundinamarca) starting in January 2027.
The training process for non-commissioned officers at the FAC lasts two years in internship mode. Those admitted receive military, technical and academic instruction, developing skills in leadership, disciplineteamwork and strategic areas of the institution. Upon completion, they obtain the rank of Non-Commissioned Officer – Airman and a technical degree, which expands their professional possibilities both within the Force and in the national aeronautical sector.
During training, each student can choose between two major technical bodies:
- Aeronautical Technical Corps: involves areas such as supply, communications, electronics, and aeronautical maintenance. Non-commissioned officers guarantee the operation, safety and maintenance of aircraft, collaborating with crews to ensure the success of each mission.
- Air Base Security and Defense Technical Corps: aimed at those seeking to protect the Force’s facilities and strategic resources. It includes specialties in intelligence, physical defense of bases, risk analysis and reaction to threats.
The process is open to Colombians by birth who have a high school degree (or are close to graduating before December 15, 2026) and meet medical, physical and documentation requirements. The registration process has no cost and all procedures are carried out officially through the FAC platform. and its Recruitment Directorate, without intermediaries.
Additional requirements include:
- Body Mass Index (BMI) between 18 and 24.9.
- Take the Saber 11 test.
- Do not register criminal, disciplinary or administrative records.
- Be affiliated with an EPS during the process.
- SISBEN IV certificate to access free tuition (categories A1 to C18).
The degree certificate and high school diploma must be delivered before December 15, 2026, and the result of the Saber 11 test no later than November 13, 2026.
The selection process is rigorous and consists of several independent and eliminatory phases:
1. Intellectual examination: virtual test of mechanical, numerical, verbal and English reasoning (200 questions, five to six hours).
2. Psychological examination: includes virtual psychometric test, interview and completion of psychological information.
3. Medical examinations: in-person assessment in Bogotá, in accordance with the FAC psychophysical fitness regulations.
4. Filling out the incorporation form: collection of information and documents to schedule the home visit.
5. Security and polygraphy study: background check, reliability and psychophysiological interview.
6. Home visit: in-person or virtual evaluation of the applicant’s family environment.
7. Selection committee: Comprehensive profile analysis to decide who advances.
8. Selection board: final selection of applicants who will enter the course, according to results and available places.
The results are notified via email. Reaching the last phase does not guarantee an automatic place; The election is made according to performance at each stage and the availability of vacancies.
Graduate non-commissioned officers can specialize in areas such as:
- Aeronautical Technician: responsible for the preparation and maintenance of aircraft and systems.
- Air Base Security and Defense Technician: responsible for the physical and operational protection of strategic facilities.
