The week began with an unusual cold atmosphere for the season, but temperatures have already begun to rise. In fact, last day the thermometers reached 27 degrees in Coin (Málaga), 26 degrees in Seville and 25 in Málaga and Elche (Alicante). And the thermal rise has only just begun. Rubén del Campo, spokesperson for the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), has announced in a statement that the meteorological panorama in Spain will experience a turn with maximums that will be around 30 degrees on the weekend.
The forecast calls for clear skies and strong gusts of wind will not be a problem as in previous days. Over the next few days, anticyclonic weather will be imposed throughout the country, leading to a progressive rise in temperatures. Starting this Wednesday, the mercury will widely exceed 25 degrees. In fact, through its X account, the public body announces that “the maximum temperatures for the weekend are expected to be very high, more typical of the month of JuneThe rainfall will be punctual and will be isolated to Galicia, the Cantabrian communities and the north of the Canary Islands.
In this way, this journey is only the beginning. They just wait weak rains in Galicia and the Cantabrian communities, while in the rest of the territory clear skies will predominate. Regarding mercury, thermometers will exceed 25 degrees in the southern third, and in the northern half, values between 20 and 25 degrees“temperatures higher than normal for this time of year,” as Del Campo details. With this peaceful scenario, Aemet has not activated any warnings for adverse weather phenomena.
The mercury will exceed 30 degrees
Looking ahead to Thursday and Friday, the anticyclonic situation will continue. The Aemet expects clear skies and light rains in the Cantabrian Sea and some occasional downpours in mountain areas. The heat will intensify especially in the east, center and south of the peninsula, and cities such as Badajoz and Seville could register maximum temperatures between 28 and 30 degrees. According to Del Campo, these values represent a deviation of between five and ten degrees above what is expected for these dates. However, the forecast for the weekend shows some uncertainty: some models point to an increase in instability and slight thermal drops, while others maintain the continuity of the warm and stable environment. The final evolution will depend on the update of the next meteorological bulletins.
Regarding the canary archipelagothe week began with an episode of very intense trade winds that complicated the maritime situation. But this Wednesday, the wind will lose strength, accompanied by cloudiness in the north and clearer skies in the south of the archipelago. Starting Friday, Del Campo warns that intense heat could be recorded on the islands, with maximum temperatures above 30 degrees.
