President of Unasev proposes allocating part of the fines to the National Security Fund

The National Road Safety Unit (Unasev) requested this Wednesday consensus between the Congress of Mayors and Parliament, in addition to allocating part of the fines to the National Road Safety Fund and establishing incentives for exemplary drivers.

The president of Unasev, Marcelo Metediera, maintained that the organization’s position is unanimous and proposed three axes to accompany any modification: create an executive coordination body to unify the resolution of the Congress of Mayors with the law approved by Parliament; allocate a percentage of the collection to finance preventive measures and road safety education; and accompany the reduction of penalties with a system of incentives for drivers who respect the rules. Metediera also pointed out the importance of the reforms not weakening road safety policies.

The project, promoted by deputies Sebastián Andújar (PN), Conrado Rodríguez (PC) and Álvaro Perrone (CA), was valued positively, The Commission will begin by analyzing the text to define its articles and the implementation mechanism.
