The professional wrestler Alberto del Rio was pointed out by alleged violence against his wife in San Luis Potosí, where it emerged that he had been detained by elements of the state Civil Guard. Although so far the corporation has not officially confirmed the arrest, reports indicate that José Alberto Rodríguez, the athlete’s real name, was at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office after being accused of physically and verbally attacking his partner.
The police intervention occurred on Monday, April 6, after the victim requested help through the 911 emergency system. When they went to the home, the agents confirmed that the woman had injuries, which is why they proceeded to arrest the former wrestler.
It is worth remembering that during his participation in the reality show La Granja VIP, Alberto del Rio received constant public support from his wife, María del Carmen Rodríguez Lucerowho became his main defender in front of the cameras and on social networks. The wrestler, known as “El Patrón,” went through moments of tension within the program, especially after the actor Alfredo Adame He revived previous legal accusations in a meeting broadcast in November 2025.
On that occasion, Mary Carmen Rodríguez connected to the gala on November 7, 2025 and assumed a central role in the defense of her partner, directly confronting Adame and categorically denying the versions of alleged events of domestic violence that occurred in 2020 in the United States.
“Yes, I saw it on 7/24 and I felt great helplessness when I heard so much infamy, when I heard this man repeating a series of lies that he should not tell because he does not have the bases or foundations to support them (…) the man does not know the case, he is not immersed in it and he does not know the official documents”Rodríguez expressed to the reality audience at that time.
The couple began their relationship in 2024 and, since then, Mary Carmen positioned herself as a fundamental support for the former wrestler. Originally from San Luis Potosí, a high-performance cycling athlete, she participated in competitions such as the Gran Premio Potosí and the GFNY. His presence at La Granja VIP was described by witnesses as determining the emotional stability of Del Río, who repeatedly expressed in the program how much he missed his wife and how had been key to his mental recovery after the death of his previous partner in 2022.
During the broadcast, Rodríguez stressed that US authorities, including the FBI, investigated the legal case in which Del Río was involved and ended up closing it due to lack of evidence. “My husband left that problem behind him a long time ago, not because a person did not testify, but because a serious investigation was carried out by the FBI (…) the accusations were lied to and were dismissed”stated Rodríguez Lucero.
At that moment, Rodríguez’s intervention was to defend her husband, “I had another idea of you, but I think you are a totally despicable person whose soul is rotten because only someone like that can use such a low resource to hurt a family that has already suffered that pain,” Rodríguez stated.
Likewise, there was an occasion when the athlete went live to talk to her husband during the reality show, totally live, and they both burst into tears.
