Brussels, March 30 (EFE).- The president of the European Council, António Costa, conveyed this Monday his support on behalf of the European Union to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, in his work of mediation between Iran and the United States to end the war in the Middle East.
“I wish Pakistan the greatest success in its efforts for peace. The EU supports all mediation efforts. Only dialogue and diplomacy can return peace and stability to the Middle East, in full respect of the UN Charter and international law,” Costa wrote on the X social network.
The President of the European Council shared that comment after having a “good conversation” this Monday with Sharif to “learn his assessment of the war in Iran, as well as the results of the recent consultations between the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey held in Islamabad.”
“The EU is deeply concerned about the prolongation of the war and its growing global impact,” Costa stressed. EFE
