Madrid, March 26 (EFE).- Junts spokesperson in Congress, Miriam Nogueras, has accused the Government of having “burdened” the rental market in recent years with measures that do not work and has stressed that they are not going to contribute to the persistence of the error.
In statements on TVE, he has stated that the State should lower housing taxes, for example, VAT so that young people can access a house and, however, it does not do so.
In the midst of the debate on the new royal housing decree, which does not currently have sufficient parliamentary support to be validated, Nogueras has insisted that we cannot persist in policies that do not work and that are also causing increasing harm.
Likewise, he has asked the State to act as the State because social policies cannot be left to the private sector. “We will never support him in our lives.”
He insists that renting has become a problem because there is less and less supply and criticizes that Barcelona has become an “experimental laboratory” for these policies that has ended up reducing rental supply by 90%.
“If the Government wants to change and join this alternative and give people hope and not destroy the housing market, we could talk,” said the Junts spokesperson, referring to the measures that are being implemented, for example, in Canada, where prices have been reduced by 21% and more than 1 million new homes have been created.
Likewise, he has denounced the war and the “terrible” debate that aims to confront owners and tenants.
In this sense, he has indicated that a few years ago renting was normal and that now people who were once able to buy an apartment and who rent it are being criminalized, in some cases to supplement their pension.
He has also revealed that many homeowners are selling their homes because “they are fed up.”
He understands that these policies of recent years are “burdening” the rental market and that if the Executive assumes non-payments, the problem for tenants and small owners will end.
“It cannot be that the owners are criminalized. It is a shame that it has to stop,” insisted Nogueras, who pointed out that neither those who cannot pay are bad nor those who have a home are bad.
He has also advocated ending bureaucracy around housing and urban planning. EFE
